The WAWM Heroin/Opiate Task Force in partnership with the City of West Allis, Village of West Milwaukee, and WAWM School District will host a community-wide event to raise awareness of the heroin/opiate epidemic in our community on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Nathan Hale High School Auditorium.

Today, everyone seems to know someone who has a family member or friend that is suffering with addiction. In West Allis, our EMT’s are responding daily to calls for drug overdoses and we have already had over 20 overdose deaths this year. Are you interested in helping save our kids from this horrific life of addiction and preventing families from enduring a living hell? You will learn how easily our youth are obtaining prescription drugs, how they can go from marijuana and alcohol to heroin, the current drug trends in our community, and you will hear from our first responders about what it is like to go to these overdose calls. We will show the film “If Only…”, a Mark Wahlberg Production that will be followed by a panel to answer audience questions. There will be a Resource Fair with a dessert and water table prior to the event. The fair is from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Please mark your calendars for an evening that will be filled with information, real life stories, and resources. If you have any questions about the event, please contact Joanie Luedke at 414-430-2207 or emai joaniejml@gmail.com.
